Living space

The Barn is in a quiet hamlet surrounded by vineyards. The original building was an old Charentaise barn that has been tastefully renovated by the previous owners to provide spacious living space on the ground floor and 7 bedrooms on the first floor.

Bedrooms

There are 3 large bedrooms with en suite shower rooms, these can be booked as single or twin rooms (or even for 3 guests if you fancy a sleepover) and 4 small single rooms with a shared bath and shower room.

Garden and swimming pool

Outside there is a terrace with table and chairs for alfresco dining, leading to a lawn shaded by tall ash trees and the pool area with a large deck for sun loungers and comfortable seating . The 10 metre pool is open from May to September (weather permitting).

There is a small shop area selling knitting kits, patterns, hand turned yarn bowls, pincushions and gifts.

The local area

The Barn is just a mile away from Brizambourg a sleepy little town with a bar, tabac, pharmacy, boulangerie, small supermarket and believe it or not a yarn shop! The larger towns of Saintes, Cognac and St Jean d’Angley are all a 20 to 30 minute car drive and are popular with guests for sight-seeing and shopping trips. You can see some of the choices for outings here.

The food

Sue and Culli prepare and cook all the meals themselves using seasonal fruit and veg and locally sourced products. A Continental breakfast is served at 9 am.
There is a buffet lunch at 1pm with a choice of salads, or in cooler weather homemade soups.
After apero's a three course supper is served in the dining-room at 7pm .
Tea and coffee is available at any time of day and guests are encouraged to make themselves at home. See more details about the menus here.

The workshops

The knitting and crochet workshops are held in the large living-room where there is plenty of natural light. You can sit at the table or relax in a comfy chair.
