March 2019 knitting workshop with tutor Debbie Abrahams
We have just completed the first knitting holiday of the year. Tutor Debbie Abrahams set a fabulous project for the week - an Easter wall hanging, knitted in Rowan cotton glace, it had a beaded edging, with bands of lace and beading, Fairisle with beads and buttons, cable edgings, Swiss darning for the lettering and a picot hem at the top. The hanging will be available to buy from Debbie Abrahams as a kit later in the year.

The group were all regular visitors to Knitting holidays in France, we had a full house with 9 residential guests and Annabelle who lives nearby and came along as a day girl. Keeping with the Easter theme Annabelle brought along her gorgeous collection of rabbits that she has been making.

The week started off with some chilly winds but got warmer every day, by Friday we were able to sit in the garden knitting and enjoying apero's before the sun went down.

We managed to fit in a few shopping trips to St Jean d'Angely, Saintes and Cognac.

This could only happen in France! We stumbled across a striptease in the window of a local underwear shop - in between dancing to some very loud music, in a very small window space, this couple managed to strip off about 10 layers of underwear, ending up with very little left!

Amanda joined me, Buddy and Billie for some lovely dog walks every day. The countryside is beautiful at the moment with a mix of vibrant spring greens, gorgeous yellows and vivid blue skies.

Needless to say, not everyone made a wall hanging saying 'Happy Easter', we had a few variations on the theme ranging from 'Alice' for Wendy's new grand-daughter, a couple of 'ooh la la's and some lovely zipped project bags with striped backings.

A great week and fantastic start to the year, thank you to Debbie and all my lovely guests.
